banaras - spices and more
Banaras, a distinguished spices brand from the House of Naila, is a celebration of India's rich cultural heritage, meticulously translated into a unique and captivating visual identity. Our branding goes beyond mere packaging; it's a vibrant tapestry of traditional Indian design, created to stand out and tell a story. The core of Banaras's design philosophy is a deep appreciation for authentic Indian artistry. We've drawn profound inspiration from indigenous patterns, particularly the intricate and beautiful designs of jalis—perforated stone or latticed screens found in Indian architecture. These motifs are not just decorative elements; they are woven into every aspect of our packaging, ensuring each product communicates its origin and cultural richness.
WHY
AND HOW
[1]
PROBLEM
Coffee branding typically relies on muted minimalism, often blending into a "sea of sameness." Naila, a startup bridging India and Japan, needed to disrupt this norm with an energetic identity that communicated high impact and cultural vibrancy without sacrificing brand clarity.

SOLUTION
We engineered a dynamic system featuring 150+ colorways and 10+ typefaces to maximize expression. By anchoring this variety within a consistent "parent" design structure, the final identity is unapologetically colorful and energetic, yet remains structurally simple and instantly recognizable.
